The second time around!

So, I have put out a brand new album! What an accomplishment, what a journey. This blog post is gonna be a little different because it will be the start of a 13 post series that will last for the next couple of months. We will take a look into each song off my new album , the lyrics and the stories behind them. Writing songs is such a therapy and sometimes where you end up at the end of the conversation is not what you excepted. Before we jump into it I want to thank everyone who was a huge part of making sure this album made it out to the world.

I had many names in mind for this second album but I knew the concept of the album for about 3 years ago. I remember taking a trip to NYC (with Brandon and Tay) to do a live one take vinyl recording at Leesta Vall Sound Studio and during our many conversations I mentioned to Tay that I wanted to make an album that talked about all the many stages of love (loving yourself, friends, family, and lovers as well). Flash forward a year later and my life became a world wind! I was overwhelmed, frustrated, in a state of rejection and felt like a second thought to everyone who was close to me. This started my journey to writing and naming my second album. That fall, I wrote a song called 'us' and I loved it (it was the first single off of the new album), but that winter (deep into my seasonal depression) I wrote the first track 'overwhelmed', this is when I realized a second album was actually gonna happen. Thus, 'I'm a little blurry with romance' was born!

Before we jump into Track 1: 'overwhelmed' I just want to talk about the significance of the album title. I can honestly say that falling in love with another person takes a toll on what, how and why you do and think the way that you do. I realize now that the love you have for others effects all the stages of life you move through with or without them and the thought of that is sort of romantic, right? One definition of romance is a quality or feeling of mystery, excitement and remoteness from everyday life (associated with love). Romance can sometimes put you in a dream state not realizing that words, actions and actual relationships are falling apart all around you. This was so intriguing to me and was the base of many of my songs while writing this album. I thought about the love I have for myself, my family, my friends, and also those who made the cut into my heart. The 'blurry state' your mind can be in, while living in romance is so blinding to all the fore shadowing that is happening in little moments around you. It was in my brain that wherever love is romance is.

I hope you have a good foundation on the concept of this album and that these words give each of you a little look inside my brain and what I think about, how I process and release emotions, feelings and my inner conversations through song.
